Wool and its Impact on the World Around Us

With a worldwide situation that is continuously changing in terms of the availability of resources, Sustainabilty and Renewability are terms that are becoming an issue in almost every sector. People are becoming more and more aware of the fact that they have a social responsibility towards their fellow citizens and above all towards nature. Our actions have a very distinct impact on the future.

Being sustainable (as defined by "LoHAS" - www.lohas.com  - an acronym for Lifestyles of Health & Sustainability) means carrying out actions and products that meet current needs without sacrificing the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. They also state that Sustainability is a broad term and often refers to the desire to provide the best outcomes for the human and natural environments - both now and into the indefinite future. In both cases it is looking towards the future - living in the world so many years from now.

In agriculture, by sustainability we mean "taking from the land/nature without damaging it" or "allowing it to survive". In this same vein, the resources this land produces are renewable. Sheep farming is sustainable and the wool coming from these sheep is renewable. So we can be sure that if managed carefully, the resource of wool will provide at current levels indefinitely.
