Wool ID® Traceability Programme
Woolroom are proud to offer a traceability programme known as Wool ID® to capture both transparency and traceability in a unique wool assurance scheme which traces the movement of wool from farm gate to shop front. This visibility within the supply chain ensures compliance with safety, sustainability and animal welfare requirements. Each time the wool is processed, a unique identifier is created which traces the batch back to farm, as well as forward to our customers. On all of our Classic, Deluxe Washable, Organic Washable and Wooly Collections you’ll be able to scan a QR code on the swing tag attached to the product and it will show you the group of farmers that have contributed to an exceptional night’s sleep.

Bangor University - VOC Testing
Bedroom air quality is an area that most consumers would never think about however when you spend over 26 years of your life in bed it perhaps should become a thought. Woolroom offer a natural, chemical free collection of bedding and mattresses and we would to provide the reassurance to you that this is scientifically proven at world-class testing facilities. All three bedding collections and our mattresses were tested at the University of Bangor, Wales for VOC off-gassing. Samples of the products were taken and immediately placed into a Markes system microchamber. The samples were ventilated within the microchamber for 18 hours before the tubes were removed and immediately capped. The samples tubes were then desorbed using methanol applied dropwise through the tube, with the solution collected in sample vials. The samples were then analysed using Gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
The results showed that all of the bedding and mattress samples were free of harmful VOCs. These tests gave us definite evidence that our products are extremely safe to use, free from harmful VOCs and are fantastic for providing you with a natural, healthy night’s sleep.
Leeds University – Moisture Management
We wanted to demonstrate the differences of the thermal insulation and moisture management properties between popular commercially available polyester and feather/down duvets (from a major brand retailer) and a wool duvet/comforter in simulated dynamic weather conditions. We wanted to answer why consumers may see disturbed sleep during the night due to increased temperature and humidity under traditional bedding types and why customers report (from reviews and testimonials) that by sleeping under wool they record significantly enhanced sleep quality and improved sleeping comfort.
Two different weather conditions tested:
1. 17C (63F)and 45%RH (Relative Humidity)-this is considered the ideal temperature and humidity levels for better sleep
2. Pre-conditioned at 70C (158F) in the oven (testing then done in cooling down phase)
The results were exceptional in highlighting that wool performed significantly better at managing moisture over an 8 hour period (average sleep time) than both Polyester and Feather and Down duvets/comforters. The Wool duvet/comforter transported 43% more moisture than polyester and 67% more moisture than a feather and down during an 8 hour sleep cycle at 17C (63F) and 45%RH. Wool will continue to deliver significantly better moisture management under different conditions.
These tests highlighted just how powerful wool is for the sleeping environment making it the number one fiber to sleep on and under. For anyone that thinks different you’ll soon find out!
