Each grade reflects the level of visible wear, marks, or damage present, helping to standardise how our items are evaluated and categorised. The grades range from A, representing items in near-new condition, to D, which indicates significant cosmetic damage. The table below outlines the criteria for each grade.

    Grade Description
    A Immaculate, no marks. Looks brand new from factory.
    B Minor cosmetic marks that will probably clean off.
    C Substantial cosmetic marks that are unlikely to clean off.
    D Heavy marks, visible damage but not structural.

    Our Chartwell Firm Edge divan provides you with enhanced comfort and optional added storage. The solid-side timber frame is constructed from slow-grown wood for maximum strength, along with hardwood corner blocks. It has 880 pocket springs to create a softer and more forgiving base for your mattress than our firmer Audley divan or Kingston ottoman.

    Our artisans upholster it by hand with 100% British woven wool fabric in a selection of six colours.

    • Because wool is naturally flame retardant, it passes all UK flammability laws without the use of harmful chemicals.
    • You also have the option to request 2, 4 or continental drawers in your Chartwell Divan.
    • The oak laminated ply timber draws provide plenty of storage with a 25kg weight limit as standard.
    • Contemporary 5cm high silver finished metal ball castor, for added rigidity.

    Mattresses, Beds & Headboards

    Larger items are delivered using our dedicated two-man service for maximum care and convenience.**

    As part of this free service, our team will:

    • Deliver to a room of your choice (up to the first floor)
    • Unpack and assemble your items where required
    • Remove all packaging for recycling

    Please note that the Junior Mattress and Woolly topper are doorstep delivery only.

    Delivery to higher floors is available for an additional charge.

    For a small extra fee, we can also remove and responsibly recycle your old like-for-like item.

Handy Storage Options

The Chartwell divan can come with dovetailed timber draws as an option. We can add two full-sized drawers at the foot of the bed; two small drawers close to the head of the bed in addition to two full-sized drawers at the foot of the bed; or four full-sized drawers along the sides. Each is placed on ball-bearing runners for smooth opening. These drawers will be upholstered in wool fabric that matches the rest of your divan.
