FAQs

Are Wool Blankets Good? Why Buy a Wool Blanket?

Buying a wool blanket is an investment in comfort and sustainability. Unlike synthetic, plastic-based fleece blankets, wool is a high-performance natural fibre that offers a wide range of benefits, including:

Strong Temperature Regulation: Wool is naturally breathable, acting as a smart insulator. This means wool will keep you warm and snug during the winter, and cool during the summer by wicking moisture away from your body.

Hypoallergenic: Wool creates a cleaner, healthier environment with its natural resistance to dust mites and allergens. It's ideal for those with sensitive skin, hay fever or asthma.

Flame Resistant: Wool is naturally flame-retardant without the use of harsh chemicals. So, you can rest assured that it provides a safe and comfortable layer for you and your family.

Sustainable: Our blankets are 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable. The wool used is sourced from sheep raised on nothing but a diet of grass, water and sunshine. And its natural resilience means it'll last for years around your home.

What Types of Wool Do You Use in Your Blankets and Throws?

We carefully select specific wool breeds to ensure every blanket and throw provides the perfect balance of comfort, durability and natural temperature regulation:

• Merino Wool: Known for having incredibly thin and flexible fibres, Merino is exceptionally soft and a great choice for those with sensitive skin who want a luxurious, next-to-skin feel.

• Shetland Wool: Hailing from the Shetland Isles, this wool is prized for its unique strength and loft (that’s the natural fluffiness). It creates a beautifully lightweight yet incredibly warm blanket that holds its shape for decades.

• British Wool: Sourced from local flocks, British wool is world-renowned for being resilient and durable. It allows our larger bed blankets to maintain their soft bounce and structure, even after years of daily use.

To learn more about the different types of wool and why we use them in our products, read our Not All Wool is Grown Equal guide.

Are Your Wool Blankets Itchy?

No – our wool blankets are designed for comfort.

The itchy or scratchy sensation people often associate with wool is caused by coarse, thick fibres that prick the skin. We use significantly finer, high-grade fibres, like Merino, Shetland and British wool in our blankets and throws - all of which are more flexible.

Rather than poking the skin, these fibres bend easily, providing that soft, luxurious and smooth texture. If you have sensitive skin, we recommend our 100% Merino wool range of blankets and wide throws. Its fibres are the finest and softest in our collection.

What Size Are Your Sofa Throws?

Our wool sofa throw sizes are approximately 140cm x 185cm (including the fringe). To give you an idea of the fit:

• Armchairs & Wingbacks: Provides generous coverage with plenty of fabric to tuck in or wrap up in.

• 2-Seater Sofas: The ideal size for draping over the back and seat to cover most of the width.

• 3-Seater Sofas: Best used as a decorative layer, such as a runner down the centre seat rather than covering the full width.

We recommend measuring the width of your sofa from arm to arm before ordering.
