At its heart lies a refined 1400-count calico-encased pocket spring system (based on king size), hand-nested and tied for precision responsiveness. Available in Soft, Regular, and Firm tensions, these springs adapt to your weight and movement with pinpoint accuracy, supporting natural spinal alignment and delivering beautifully even support.

Care Instructions

Letting your mattress settle:

When your mattress arrives remove all packaging to allow the mattress to air. Your mattress may seem shorter than the base its on. Once unpacked, the mattress will gradually settle and return to full size. If you find that the mattress is settling unevenly, turn and rotate the mattress.

Turning and Rotating the mattress:

We recommend turning and rotating your mattress regularly for the first 12 weeks, after that we would recommend turning it every 3 months.

Cleaning your mattress:

Do not use a vacuum cleaner on your mattress. Use a soft brush to remove any fluff. In case of spillage, spot dry the liquid quickly with a dry cloth.

Careful collection and dismantling: When your old mattress comes back to us, our delivery partners collect it and take it to a specialist recycling centre. Each mattress is handled carefully and prepared so the materials can be recovered.

Very comfortable on a slatted base. Wool smell soon dissipates. Very heavy and turning is a two person job.

We ordered a king size mattress in good faith expecting a premium, well-communicated service. Unfortunately, the experience fell short.

Delivery updates were unclear and inconsistent, and we had to repeatedly chase for basic information over several weeks. There was no proactive communication or clear timeline provided.

Although we did eventually receive a refund, there was no apology or explanation for the delay. For a product at this price point, the lack of communication and ownership was very disappointing.

We sincerely apologise for the unclear and inconsistent communication and for the lack of proactive updates. You should not have had to repeatedly contact us for information about an order of this value, and we regret that we did not provide the clarity and reassurance you should have received.

We are also very sorry that, despite the eventual refund, you were not given a proper apology or explanation for the delay. We understand that receiving a refund does not make up for the time, inconvenience and frustration caused.

Still haven’t received the mattress. Have had no contact from you on this. Have had a text regarding delivery from relyon bed and alliance. Have accepted text re delivery tomorrow and heard nothing since. Have chased up with. Woolroom today who have said the delivery will be tomorrow and it’s an all day window !! And I’ve had to chase this up. Was told it’s standard. This is not the case with other companies eg John Lewis, where a two hour window is given a couple of days before. It’s unbelievable I’ve heard nothing from you and now have to stay in all day tomorrow. you’ve had the money in advance for this mattress and have not bothered to contact me since apart from asking for a review of my purchase which I haven’t received. shocking

Excellent Mattress

Due to various health conditions, I require a soft mattress. We had looked at other similar mattresses which were more than double the cost of a Woolroom one. At Last, A Perfect Night'S Sleep

I've never slept so well. This mattress supports me perfectly as a side sleeper. The medium option provides me with the perfect level of comfort to aid a perfect night's sleep. It was consider purchase due to the price but it is fantastic and worth every penny. I also received a complimentary free bedding bundle (special promotion) with my purchase which again is fantastic quality.I have also recently purchased the light duvet for the warmer months and the quality is superb. I love that the products are British and sustainable. Additionally being a lady of a certain age support temperature regulation. I have recommended this company to friends and family and will definitely purchase additional products in future.

So Far Soooo Good.

Absolutely love my new mattress. Regular is a bit firmer than I've had in other brands, but it suits my back problem well. It's also great to know there's no nasty chemicals to breath in whilst sleeping. The very faint woolly aroma is reassuring too. (I've had the mattress for 5 weeks).

Exceeds Expectations!

As an arthritic ex-shepherdess I find the wool bedding both comfortable and comforting. The regular Standen mattress I have just purchased, teamed with a wool topper, is comfortable yet supportive and the delivery team were very good. The wool duvet is a generous size and being slightly heavier than the down/feather one it replaced doesn't wander about as much - I was also surprised to find that I no longer need to put a blanket over my feet, even though the tog rating is the same. The pillow is equally sublime but, despite daily fluffing, is a lot softer than when I bought it several months ago -this suits me fine but might not everyone.I also treated myself to a couple of linen-mix sheets as a guilty pleasure and find they definitely help with the temperature regulation. I am definitely sleeping better these days!

I bought the Standen regular mattress about 4 weeks ago along with the Chartwell divan and a natural wool mattress protector . . . . best purchase I've ever made! They are all beautifully made from wonderful natural materials which I love. I've had the best nights sleep since purchasing them which is amazing as I'd been struggling for quite some time. It's like sleeping on a cloud! Would 100% recommend everyone to buy a Wool Room bed and mattress . . . . it's the best thing I've done! I bought the regular Standen, and for that added ‘Mmmmmmm’ feeling (and also to protect the mattress), I bought the wool mattress topper. Both have been beautifully made and give me the best night’s sleep. I love that they are constructed from natural materials and that they are made here in the UK. Excellent Mattress

This is a fantastic mattress. We've had it for a number of months now, it is very supportive and comfortable. The temperature regulation of the wool is also excellent, a total change to the sweaty memory foam layer on our previous mattress.

Standen Mattress , King Size, We Love It.

Have now haad the mattress 3 months and we are delighted with it. It is so comfortable and welcoming, just what we were hoping for. We have stuck rigourously to the flipping/rotating scedule but I found it very heavy and hard to do. My partner is bigger and mostly had to do it on his own. Pleased that bit is over. Still,overall, we love our mattress and are very pleased with it. Thank you

Fabulous Mattress

The sleep trial gave me confidence to order this mattress untested. I ordered the soft version, having found a previous purchase from another brand too firm despite being labelled as soft. I have not been disappointed, it is definitely not going back. I've finally got that feeling of being 'in' bed, rather than just laying on top of it like before. It is a nice depth so that it's easy to get sheets that fit and to top it all off, as sheep farmers ourselves, I really like that it British wool is used in the manufacture.
