The Holcombe - The Pinnacle of Natural Sleep

The Holcombe sits at the very top of our Artisan Collection and represents the ultimate expression of what a natural mattress can achieve. Measuring around 32cm in depth and finished with an exceptional five rows of traditional hand side-stitching, it represents the pinnacle of craftsmanship, purity, and performance. Meticulously handcrafted in the UK and available in Soft, Regular, and Firm tensions, it delivers a sleep experience defined by balance, precision, and indulgent natural comfort.

Generous layers of Wool ID® traceable British wool create a naturally climate-controlled surface that adapts intuitively to your body temperature throughout the night. Paired with cotton and other premium natural fibres, the Holcombe contours gently to your shape, relieving pressure and encouraging deep, effortless relaxation.

Beneath these luxurious natural layers lies a dual-layer, 3400-count calico pocket spring system (King size), engineered for perfectly tailored support. Whether you sleep on your back, side, or front, it maintains healthy spinal alignment while minimising partner disturbance for a truly undisturbed night’s rest.

Every component of the Holcombe is entirely chemical free. With no foams, glues, or fire-retardant sprays, it uses a Merino-rich outer fabric that meets UK fire regulations naturally, creating a cleaner, more breathable, and healthier sleep environment.

Expert hand tufting secures each natural layer in place, while the five rows of hand side-stitching ensure outstanding edge-to-edge stability and long-term structure - the hallmarks of true master craftsmanship.

  • Care Instructions

    Letting your mattress settle:

When your mattress arrives remove all packaging to allow the mattress to air. Your mattress may seem shorter than the base its on. Once unpacked, the mattress will gradually settle and return to full size. If you find that the mattress is settling unevenly, turn and rotate the mattress.

    Turning the mattress:

We recommend turning your mattress regularly for the first 12 weeks, after that we would recommend turning it every 3 months.

    Cleaning your mattress:

Do not use a vacuum cleaner on your mattress. Use a soft brush to remove any fluff. In case of spillage, spot dry the liquid quickly with a dry cloth.

Where Craft Meets Comfort

Experience true craftsmanship with our Holcombe Wool Mattress, meticulously and lovingly handcrafted to deliver an unparalleled sleeping experience. Each mattress is hand-side stitched by our skilled artisans using traditional techniques, reinforcing its durability and edge-to-edge support for exceptional comfort and lasting structure. At the core of the Holcombe, individual hand-tied calico pocket springs provide precise, responsive support, adapting seamlessly to your body while minimising motion transfer for an undisturbed night’s sleep.

Like all our mattresses, the Holcombe is expertly hand-tufted by expert, securing layers of traceable British wool in place. This prevents shifting, maintains the mattress’s shape, and ensures consistent support and longevity, so you can enjoy night after night of restorative rest.

For an even more luxurious experience, pair your mattress with one of our wool mattress protectors.

When combined with a Woolroom protector, you qualify for a no-quibble 100 Night Sleep Trial, allowing you to experience all the benefits risk-free.

Mattress Recycling

At Woolroom, sustainability runs through everything we do, including what happens to your old mattress. 100% of returned mattresses are kept out of landfill, so the materials can be reused.

How our mattress recycling works

  1. Careful collection and dismantling: When your old mattress comes back to us, our delivery partners collect it and take it to a specialist recycling centre. Each mattress is handled carefully and prepared so the materials can be recovered.
  2. Cleaned, checked and sorted: Every mattress is checked, then taken apart by hand into separate parts. Each material is cleaned, sorted and processed so it can be reused wherever possible.
  3. Given a second life: Every week, over 16,000 mattresses are recycled in this way. Usable materials like springs, foam and fibres are given a second life and turned into new products in other industries.
