Hebridean 3000 Mattress

I have been sleeping very badly for the past two months averaging only five hours a night. I put this partly down to the heatwave but also my old mattress. I have now slept on the Hebridean 3000 mattress for three nights and it’s no exaggeration to say it has transformed my life. Not only am I getting eight hours sleep but I wake up refreshed and ready to start the day. It is like sleeping on a cloud. The mattress when you first have it has a gorgeous aroma of new wool which I think dissipates after a while, mores the pity! If you are reading this review and hesitating about buying a Woolroom mattress I can only say I thoroughly recommend them.

We've had our hebridean mattress for two weeks now and cannot beleive the difference it has made to our sleep! The mattress is so comfy but also firm and supportive. So well made and looks and feels like top quality materials. The mattress protector adds even more comfort. We are just delighted with our choice and the fact that it is fully sustainable is a great bonus.

I've been a loyal WoolRoom customer for years but my experience with this mattress and the company's handling of it was disappointing. We bought the mattress on the basis of the "regular" tension that matched my much-loved Beulah 1000 No-Turn Mattress. As we were moving house, I had the mattress topper shipped separately to the old address so that I could wash it prior to delivery of the new one. WoolRoom then refused to honor the return with mattress topper and mattress bundle, as they were to different addresses, and we are now having to move this to the guest room as it is simply too soft. Please be aware that this is much bouncier than the Beulah 1000, even though they are listed as the same tension. I remain a loyal customer but the whole experience was disappointing.

As a hot sleeper I was lured by the heat regulating qualities of wool. Started with a wool duvet, then egyptian cotton sheets and definitely noticed the benefit. So, the next step was a mattress. Decided to try the Hebridean. Was a little cautious because I'm a side sleeper and it was marked as "regular ", so I didn't know how to compare this to the usual classification. I needn't have worried, it's perfect. It has just the right amount of give. I'm 5'11" and 13 stone. The heat regulating properties are as described. I sleep better than I have for a long time. I love my Hebridean mattress. Well done Woolroom.

My husband and Iare in our late seventies and this mattress is the most comfortable one we've ever slept on.
It really is a pleasure to go to bed!!!

For some time I thought I had a hip problem and then I realized it was my old latex mattress becoming so soft and worn that I could feel the bed beneath. I bought a Woolroom Hebridean mattress and can now sleep on my right side which I couldn't before. I've also found with it being more comfortable that I sleep for longer.

The mattress smells… and it’s not a nice smell of sheep. It smells of a farmyard. I have had many items made from sheep’s wool in the past, but the mattress and the quilt from this particular company smell unpleasant. I have spent the money and had the hassle of it… I will keep it, but I regret my choice, and even though the mattress is comfortable, I do not recommend it, unless you want to have smelly bedsheets and pyjamas every day for a few months.

This is well made as far as I can see - it is firmer than I was expecting but this mattress came in only medium.

It does have a slight odour but I think this will go in time.

The mattress is comfortable but I am surprised at the softness of the edges of the mattress compared to the edge rigidity of our 12 year old mattress that we exchanged. Although we do not sit on the edge of our new mattress we do wonder if it will last as long?

very comfortable lovely nights sleep

Our previous mattress was eight years old and in need of change. Having bought various items of bedding from The Woolroom previously, being and remaining very happy with everything, it made sense to look here for a mattress. We chose the Hebridean 3000 as it seemed the right balance of materials and cost to suit our requirements.
As is usual with The Woolroom, the ordering and delivery processes were simple and silky smooth. The mattress arrived second week of September.
Once the mattress was in place and bed linen fitted, I sat on the edge of the for an initial feel. The side support on this mattress is best described as minimal; I sank into it. At 15 stone, I’m hardly a featherweight but I’m not man-mountain either. Our eight year old mattress from a Swedish flat-pack specialist still provides significantly more side support at a fraction of the price (I bought it for short term use for an apartment I lived in overseas). I didn’t give it too much further thought. Bed time came around and neither of us slept particularly well or that badly. It was so so. We went off on holiday for two weeks the next day and thought no more about it.
On our return, things didn’t improve. I should add here that I was in rehabilitation following nerve trauma, so my sleep wasn’t good anyway.
Couple months in, I was back to normal health-wise and still not sleeping well. Every time one of us moved in the middle of the night, we woke the other. Support is not the best. My wife travels extensively with her work and is home around 10 to 14 nights per month; even when she’s away, my sleep on this mattress is poor.
Early November, we went to Seattle for a long weekend. Even considering the eight hour time change, my wife and I both slept remarkably well at our hotel. On returning back home, sleep returned to being disturbed and restless.
Beginning of December, we were in Tokyo for five days and, again, our sleep quality improved dramatically in the hotel.
Back home, sleep was back to restless and very intermittent.
I raised the issue of my poor sleep and it was only then that my wife mentioned she was sleeping terribly at home but remarkably well when away in hotels around the globe.
Given our restful sleep in hotels against what we experience at home, it can only be a result of the mattress.
This mattress does come with a 100 night sleep trial guarantee. I should have mentioned my issues to my wife sooner and then contacted Woolroom in good time. I did not, hands up, and I have to take that on the chin. I didn’t realise it was only me having the issues. Again, that’s on me.
It is with much regret that I have to write a negative review about this mattress. Our other products (two woolly sprung toppers, duvets, pillows) have all been class and exceed expectations. Unfortunately, this mattress has not lived up to our expectations.
On a positive note, temperature regulation is excellent and it’s pretty evident that it has been expertly and meticulously crafted.
If this mattress appears to meet your needs, go for it but monitor your sleep carefully before ordering and continue to do so after delivery for comparison. Also, if you normally go medium then I’d suggest considering the firm.

We were a little nervous about buying a mattress without trying it first but we needn’t have worried - this is the best mattress we’ve ever bought. Incredibly comfortably, luxuriously deep, and all with the bonus of no synthetic nasties, just sustainably sourced materials.

Supportive and comfortable mattress.

I really love this mattress. I was worried having spent a lot of money, that it wouldn't suit us and might smell given some of the reviews. However so far it is great. Its is incredibly comfortable and supportive and my achey back has disappeared (we had slept on our previous mattress for 20 years...). It does have a faint odour but it isn't unpleasant, just woolly and it is fading with airing. It is heavy and you definitely need 2 people to turn it. It is good to know we aren't breathing in nasty chemicals/ VOCs as we sleep.

After doing some research I wanted to invest in a wool mattress. The Woolroom had a variety of choice. I chose the Hebridean mattress as it can be rotated and turned (flipped)

I bought this mattress as I was having issues with neck pain. Since buying this mattress (and topper) my neck pain has disappeared. The mattress is very comfortable and supportive, and the handles on the side make it easy to turn . The delivery was hassle free and all the packaging was taken away. The mattress is such good quality, I am looking forward to many years of peaceful sleep on it.

Mattress is nice and firm, super comfy and supportive. It has a slight aroma of wool which I enjoy. I've had it almost 5 weeks now and I'm really pleased with it so far. Delivery service was also fab

Very comfortable mattress, purchased with the topper. Very happy with it. Like that it is wool and being able to turn it (though King Size is heavy). Delivery was also excellent.

Very happy with the mattress. Extremely comfortable and excellent quality. Sleeping pattern positively impacted (after few nights of settling in). Brilliant that it can be turned and both sides equally comfortable and of the same standard and quality. Only downside is that there are no handles on the shorter ends as that would help the turning process and the edges are a little softer than our previous mattress. That said there’s no impact on the overall use or sleep ability of the mattress. Also have the mattress protector which is a great addition. Now fully ‘woolled’ as already had pillows and duvet and glad we’ve made the switch.
