5 Ways You Can Celebrate National Bed Month
5 Ways You Can Celebrate National Bed MonthReady? Set? Snooze! National Bed Month starts today. Yes, that’s a whole month dedicated to encouraging you to spend more time under the duvet. Organised by the National Sleep Council, National Bed Month takes place each March. Its main purpose is to create awareness of the importance of getting a good night’s sleep – and how having the right bed can help. Here at The Wool Room, we couldn’t agree more. And we think you should get involved too. Wondering how you can celebrate? We’ve created a list of ways for you to make the most of National Bed Month.
1. Put your bed through an MOT
You sleep in it for eight hours a night, 365 nights a year. In fact, you may well spend more time in your bed than in any other place in your home. But when was the last time your bed had an MOT? Fortunately, a bed MOT (that’s Mattress Obsolescence Test) doesn’t involve lugging your mattress to the nearest servicing centre. You can carry out your very own assessment from the comfort of your home, by taking The Sleep Council's quick quiz.
2. Do a digital detox
Frequently find yourself falling asleep with the TV playing away in the background? Choose to snooze with your phone under your pillow? Technology has a big role to play in our lives – but not at bed time. It’s well known that digital distractions can play havoc with our sleeping routines, so why not take the opportunity to kick the tech out of your bedroom in March and see how it improves your sleep.
3. Start a sleep diary
What’s really causing your sleep problems? Keeping a sleep diary allows you to record your sleeping routine and identify potential problems. We’ve been helping people create their perfect sleep environment for years. One of the things we’ve learned is that what you think is disturbing your sleep and what is actually disturbing it can be two completely different things. A sleep diary is a smart way to spot patterns and potential bad habits. Once you know what’s keeping you awake, you can begin to change it.
4. Try out a new mattress – with a 30 day Sleep Guarantee
National Bed Month is the perfect time to buy your new mattress. But to be completely confident that you’ve found the right mattress for you, you need to try it out – and not just in the showroom. That’s why we offer our Sleep Guarantee. When you buy a mattress from The Wool Room, we’re confident that you’ll be sleeping better within 30 days. If for any reason you’re not completely satisfied, we’ll give you your money back. In other words, that’s 30 days for you to try your new mattress and decide if it’s right for you. What’s more, our wool mattresses are chemical-free, for a healthier, natural sleeping environment.
5. Upgrade your bedding
When it comes to creating your optimal sleeping environment, it’s not just about the bed itself. While your bed and mattress are vital to a healthy, rested night’s sleep, it’s really important to combine them with bedding that performs. So if you’ve completed your bed MOT and are happy with your existing mattress, it’s time to turn your attention to your bedding. And what better way to treat yourself than with some luxury bedding? For maximum comfort, look for natural fibres – a wool duvet and pillows encased in cotton covers are the perfect sleep-enhancing combination.
