Woolroom Receives a King’s Award for Enterprise 2026

We’re proud to announce Woolroom has received the King’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category. This prestigious award recognises our growth over the past three years, with overseas sales of our natural bedding increasing by more than 130%.

What is the King’s Award for Enterprise?

The King’s Award for Enterprise recognises the outstanding achievements of British businesses across categories including young founder, innovation, sustainability, promoting opportunity through social mobility and international trade. It’s the most prestigious business award in the UK.

Our Second Award in the International Trade Category

It’s the second time we’ve received the award, having previously picked up the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade in 2021.

Chris Tattersall, managing director of Woolroom, speaking with King Charles III at Windsor Great Hall for the Queens Award for Enterprise Reception in 2021.

Since that initial win, we’ve worked hard to continue expanding our international footprint. Our growth has primarily been driven by increasing demand in the US and Canada for more sustainable sleep solutions.

Our North American team has grown, with investments in digital marketing, logistics and in-market expertise. We’ve also established distribution hubs in both the US and Canada. This has helped our wool bedding products reach customers across North America, as well as in other key markets around the world.

“Receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise for a second time is a huge honour for the whole team at Woolroom. It recognises the progress we’ve made in growing our business while staying true to our roots as a British, family-run brand.

“There is a growing global appetite for better, cleaner, more sustainable sleep. Our focus is on meeting that demand responsibly – from sourcing and product design through to how we serve customers in each market. We’re continuing to invest in our North American team, our supply chain and our ability to deliver high-quality, traceable products to customers around the world.” Chris Tattersall, Managing Director, Woolroom

Earlier this year, Woolroom also supported research conducted by British Wool, the International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO) and Bangor University. The study found wool to outperform feather, down and synthetic bedding materials for temperature regulation and moisture management during sleep. With more consumers looking for breathable, natural alternatives to synthetic bedding, we’re committed to helping people create a better, cleaner sleep environment through the natural benefits of British wool.
