What is Wool ID®?
Wool ID® is Woolroom’s exclusive traceability programme that allows customers to trace the wool in their bedding and mattresses right back to the farms and flocks it came from. Every product includes a unique QR code that reveals the journey of the wool, from sheep and farm, through grading and craftsmanship, all the way to your home.
The programme was created to bring greater transparency, sustainability and trust to the wool industry.

Why Traceability Matters
Traceability gives us, and you, confidence in every fibre. It means we know where our wool came from, how it was produced and that it meets the highest standards of animal welfare, sustainability and quality.
-
Animal Welfare
Every farm we work with must guarantee all five freedoms of the UK Animal Welfare Act 2006 — freedom from hunger, discomfort, pain, fear, and the freedom to express natural behaviour.
-
Eco-friendly Initiatives
Traceable wool supports British farmers, protects the planet and delivers unmatched sleep comfort. With Wool ID®, you’ll know exactly where your bedding comes from and why it matters. Ready to sleep better and shop more responsibly?

FAQs
A lot number is the unique code assigned to a specific batch of wool. Think of it like a passport for your bedding. Every Woolroom product carries one, printed on the care label sewn inside. Enter it on our search page and it will tell you what farms have contributed to our product.
It's printed on the care label sewn inside your product, usually along the edge seam. It'll be a short alphanumeric code. If you're struggling to find it, contact our customer service team and they will be able to support.
Your phone's built-in camera should handle the QR code without any app needed. If it's not responding, try good lighting and hold the phone steady about 20–25cm away. Alternatively, go directly to our Wool ID® search page and type in the lot number manually, it works exactly the same way.
You'll see the farm name, its location(county and region), the breed of sheep, the farmer's name, How many sheep are in their flock, the grade of wool, what product type your wool is going into and when it was processed.
We always pay above the British Wool floorprice. That board price sets a baseline for the industry, but we pay a premium on top of it because the quality and traceability standards we ask of our farmers deserve to be reflected in what they're paid. Beyond the price, we build long-term relationships rather than shopping around for the cheapest clip each year. Stability matters to farmers, and it matters to us.
It's genuinely British grown on British farms, registered with British Wool, and sheared in the UK. The lot number ties your specific product back to a specific batch of fleece from a specific farm. That traceability would collapse if wool were blended in from overseas.
The welfare standards are consistent across all collections, the 5 Freedoms apply everywhere. What changes with the Organic range is what the sheep eat and what's applied to the land.
Organic farms must meet Soil Association certification standards, meaning no synthetic pesticides, herbicides or fertilisers, and pasture must hold organic certification for a minimum of two years before livestock can graze on it. It's about the whole ecosystem, not just the animal.
Most of our british wool falls into the "fine" category, which is sourced from a number of different sheep breeds that all produce a similar quality of wool. You can read more about wool types on the British Wool website.
